RAVENSCRY

RAVESCRY | One Way Out” (2011)

Voice: Giulia Stefani

Guitar: Paul Raimondi

Guitar: Mauro Paganelli

Bass Guitar: Andrea “Fagio” Fagiuoli

Drums: Simon Carminati

The project started in August 2008, near Milan, from the encounter between guitarist Paul Raimondi (ex-drummer Hyperion) Fagio on bass and Simon Carminati behind the drums, joined shortly thereafter by guitarist Mauro Paganelli. A month and several hearings after the four musicians are captured by the voice of Giulia Stefani, talented vocalists come from Rome who joined the project. Giulia fits pe…rfectly the idea of Ravenscry: a voice full of intensity and heat, capable of many shades. Added value for the band’s music, which was able to double the range of accessible emotions, intertwining granitic 8 strings-guitar riffs with the pleasing melodies drawn by the voice. Deliberately modern style, incorporating the influences of very diverse components (primarily attributable to all of rock and metal) and at the same time leaves room for new influences, such as electronics. Numerous and strong are the themes in the lyrics: the base is a cry of protest against a system where meritocracy does not exist and the sacrifice has a purpose often illusory; difficult relationships between parents and children, but also finding themselves , physical pleasure and alienation. Nothing is left out, because music is life and tells every aspect of it.
Once completed the line-up Ravenscry got back to work, composing 12 original songs in a few months. In March 2009 the band recorded the entire repertoire at Fear Studio in Ravenna (Italy); an informed choice, consistent with the intent to seek the utmost professionalism. The competence of Simone Mularoni (Empyrios, DGM) and Simone Bertozzi (Empyrios, The Modern Age Slavery), combined with the quality of the studio will give songs that sound that Ravenscry were searching for. Then registrations were completed with the vocal parts recorded at Suonovivo (Bergamo, Italy), with the expert Dario Ravelli. All material is assigned for the mixing process to Fabrizio Grossi of Sounds Of Pisces (Los Angeles, CA), a producer whose collaborations are difficult to balance in both quantity and quality (among others: Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, Slash, Laura Pausini, Cypress Hill, Alice Cooper as well as labels like EMI and Warner). Met months before at a clinic, Grossi is the link to Tom Baker of Precision Mastering (Judas Priest, Sevendust, Marilyn Manson, Megadeth and many others), who takes care of the mastering.
In summer 2009, Ravenscry are engaged in several live dates in the meantime are published site (www.ravenscryband.com) official myspace (www.myspace.com/ravenscryband) and pages on Facebook and Twitter, in addition to its Street Team (Scandinavia, U.S. and Russia the most active). Photos and graphics were edited by Diego Di Guardo and Beatrice Di Stefano (Irene Grandi).
